The first ever three Leonardo da Vinci Awards presented

The first ever Leonardo da Vinci Awards launched by the Directorate General for Education and Culture of the European Commission were presented in December in Maastricht. A special gala ceremony was held in the Fort Saint Pieter to reward the three projects which were judged the best examples of dynamic transnational vocational education and training (VET) in Europe.

Mark Rutte, Dutch State Secretary of Education presented the awards along with Nikolaus van der Pas, Director General of Education and Culture of the European Commission, and Jane Davidson, Welsh Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning.

From a shortlist of 32 nominated projects, the final three equal first winners are as follows:

Pan-European project – Leonardo Power Quality Initiative (LPQI)
Powerful learning creates professional energy
